She was formally trained in criminal law and procedure at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2000. (State Bar #210650). She has also completed additional specialized training to stay current with changes and trends in criminal law. She also has over 15 years of practical hands on experience in criminal law reviewing, evaluating, and negotiating criminal cases. Jennifer Monroe served as a prosecuting Deputy District Attorney and Deputy City Attorney for seven years. During her seven years as a prosecutor Jennifer Monroe was responsible for all aspects of the prosecution of misdemeanor, felony, and Major Narcotic cases. She has personally handled every crime listed in the Areas of Practice and many more obscure crimes of the Penal Code, Vehicle Code, and local Municipal Codes. She is experienced in all stages of prosecution including: investigation, filing, office hearing, demurrer, arraignment, bail hearing, pre-trial, pre-trial motions, motion to suppress evidence, preliminary hearing, arraignment on the information, motion to set aside the information, sentencing and in many cases through jury trial. She has also handled post-conviction matters including monitoring defendants and their conditions of probation, probation violation hearings, motions to modify probation, motions to terminate probation, and expungements.
When not working behind the scenes reviewing and charging cases, Jennifer Monroe spent most of her time as a prosecutor in court negotiating cases with defense counsel and the judge. While a prosecutor she settled thousands of cases through plea bargaining, conducted many misdemeanor and felony jury trials, and presented over 100 felony preliminary hearings.
